My new 15" MacBook Pro has been acting strange since I received it Friday. For example, spotlight wouldn't find standard Applications, so I ran the reindex command which fixed it.

Today, I launched Keynote, and it failed to open (may have been the first time trying to use it). Then I tried to reboot, and I got the flashing folder with the '?'. After booting off the OS X DVD, I launched the Hard Drive Utility and tried to verify the drive, but it failed to verify and thus could not be repaired.

So I proceeded to erase and reinstall OS X (since my "genius" appointment isn't until tomorrow). The first time the OS failed to install and said "unable to write to folder 'xxxx'." So I started again, and it installed the second time through.

I downloaded a program called SMART Status 2.0.2 and it didn't detect any errors with the hard drive. Anyone have ideas what might be wrong with my new baby? Thanks in advance.
