Hello

I have an external hard drive, it's been working fine and i have all of my mac info backed up on it. Also i have lots of windows stuff on it. All working fine without any issues... Until.

With no reason it will not mount, there is power going to it and the lights are on and it's turning over but i cant seem to access it in OSX, it works fine in vista.

I haven't formatted it and i havent lost any information on it.

I hope someone can help!

I have left it plugged in at work so i cant tell you yet

I havent tried that yet, i havent formatted it since i got it so... it was whatever it was as standard. its a western digital passport external drive.

Regardless of its formatting it can change its formatt without formatting the drive clean first?

Also, is the intel, 2.2 macbook pro 64bit compatible?

You can't change the file system without "erasing" the data and yes, the new MBP with 2.2.GHz has a 64-bit processor, like all Core 2 Duos are.

Thanks, it's working now. Ye'ol SMC reset done the trick.

When i installed vista it didnt give me the choice and installed the 32bit version anyway!
