Hey, I want to start making HD videos and other assorted vlogging things, but I don't have $600 to buy a really amazing camcorder.

I've been looking into the Kodak Zi8, which is with in my budget.

Any suggestions?

Kodak Zi8

Yes, the Zi8 is definitely the way to go if you want a Flip-like camcorder. I work for a film-production company, and when we do undercover shooting, we use the Zi8. Great gadget.

I can vouch for the Kodak Zi3 (Playsport). It has the guts of the Zi8 in a rugged shell. It can also go underwater up to 10ft. The 1080p is just ok (of course it is a 149 dollar camera) but the 720p 60fps mode is pretty great for a 149 dollar camera. This is where this thing really excels. As long as you know the limitations of these pocket cameras they offer a lot of bang for the bucks.

I checked out the Zi3, it doesn't appear to have a 1/4in tripod thingy, which I need. I forgot to mention that though.

I like the flip ultra hd. it has better audio than the kodak. Although I want a canon xh a1 for my professional work, I love the ultra hd for home movies and simple things
