How good is it. Best Buy now has it for $999, but is the 42" Vizio (1080p?) a better picture/buy? Thoughts and experiences?
Thanks.

I guess given those 2 choices I would pick the westinghouse. I've seen those at BB, and am a bit more impressed by those over the Vizio. I sell TV's at Circuit City, and we sell the 50" vizio. I cannot stand it, as it is a piece of garbage. Poor build quality, and even poorer picture. Vizio LCD's (mainly the 32") are the only product from that company I can even halfway tolerate.

Depends on what you're going to display on it. Computer? Regular DVD? HD DVD? Blue Ray? 720p HD content? 1080i HD content?

Your question is like asking if you should get an F150 or an F350 without saying why you need a truck.

Isn't 720p a bit low for a screen that size?

Well, considering the fact that he wants plasma, and there aren't exactly an abundance of 1080p plasmas floating around.

FWIW, even 1080i content downscaled to 720p looks like poo on the vizio. I was watching the NFL playoffs OTA on fox last night, and almost every other TV looked ok except for the Vizio.

Plasma?? No, LCD. And primarily talking about TV (HDTV in very near future). Just trying to get a handle on what to look for/avoid since plan to buy in next couple of months.

depending on your budget and what you are looking will give us all a nice idea on what to recommend. I would look into the Samsung line Westinghouse has a nice 42" 1080p display and also a nice 37" 1080p display, I have seen and heard of both used for PC work and movies/tv.

if you want to read reviews they can be read here.

and the 42" can be had for $1,334 and change from online retailers, best buy has the 47 and 37 inch on the online stores 47" around $2k

Whoops! I totally misread.

I still stick with the westy, if those are you choices.
