They are the same exact size, only difference is the 3gs is just a tad heavier, if you even wanna call it heavier since its minimal. Spec sheet on apples site says the same exact measurements.

ok update on this, this kid is posting on the you tube channel responding to comments and is swearing the 32g model IS a little bit thicker. Can this be confirmed ?

It isn't thicker. I can tell you from looking at one now, and the Apple tech specs back this up:

I may well be wrong but when I first looked at my new 3GS, it did seem thicker as well. Might have been the shiny plastic still on it or maybe the 3g tapers off to be a little slimmer at the bottom? If that's the case, the official specs would still be the same.

Edit: My case still fits fine tho

The 32GB one i got today IS bulkier. Now its not to say its thicker because its not, BUT it is shaped differently. The 32GB 3GS compared to my previous 8GB 3G is fatter towards the ends. My Griffin clear hard case does not fit due to its bulkier back shape. The previous 8GB models had a macbook air type bowl tapered shape, which is why it kinda wobbles when you set it on the table, while this new 32GB one is flat backed. The 32GB definitely has more noticeable heft compared to my old 8GB 3G. Since this bulk doesn't actually make the phone thicker per-say since the thickest part in the middle is no thicker then previous gens, but the back is definitely shaped not as slender towards the edge as previous models. The store clerk says only the 32GB were made like this, the 16GB 3GS shares the same size as the old gens.
