3G speeds across the country

Is it just me or is it ridiculous that NYC has the slowest 3G download speed in the ENTIRE COUNTRY!!!!
I mean for the flagship city for Apple, this is crazy. The "S" in NYC apparently means "slow".

And yet that information is incorrect, as I get speeds far faster than they're listing there. I don't recall the last time I had 500kbps for 3G speeds...

Wow at AT&T. DC and LA not in there? Odd, but more odd is Atlanta not being there :eek:

EDIT: I actually tested it some more and it's usually lower, like around 850 down
 
I did five consecutive 3G tests from my house in NoVA and got:

Download/Upload:

1) 348ms lag - 1243kbps/99kbps
2) 2460ms lag - 323kbps/24kbps
3) 402ms lag - 333kbps/34kbps
4) 1481ms lag - 156kbps/25kbps
5) 5184ms lag - 283kbps/27kbps

Just for kicks, five tests on Edge, exact same location:

1) 997ms lag - 100kbps/24kbps
2) 4126ms lag - 90kbps/6kbps
3) 2482ms lag - 41kbps/52kbps
4) 3099ms lag - 68kbps/27kbps
5) 3101ms lag - 56kbps/19kbps

WiFi -
1) 39ms lag - 10101kbps/4253kbps
2) 3406ms lag - 12494kbps/4313kbps
3) 48ms lag - 12088kbps/4292kbps
4) 47ms lag - 11931kbps/4243kbps
5) 35ms lag - 10759kbps/4241kbps

AT&T needs to get their **** together.
 
I can tell you right now that the Phoenix Verizon numbers are BS.
They must have been standing under a Verizon tower when they took those readings.
When I had Verizon service for my work phone last year, I had to go outside to make a phone call.

My AT&T numbers are consistently between 953 kbps and 1864 kbps on the download speeds but don't come close to their reported upload speed of 671 kbps. I get between 188 kbps and 342 kbps on the upload side.

I just popped 1108 up and 335 down right now. I would say that is average for me.
 
Kinda off subject if you will....since i'm not in the US but I average out at about:

3450 kbps Download
280 kbps Upload

This is on Rogers in Canada.
 
I'm in Detroit and I get 1200-1700 on 3G. It's been very reliable in my experience as long as I'm in the coverage area.
 
the more traffic on the server the slower the speeds are. thats why nyc has lower speeds
 
in the burbs of Ventura County where I live I get 1300/410 on 3g with the iPhone, I would assume some of the better upload rates were coming off of a 3G card not a phone.
