I'm looking to find some good programs for my Mac that i'm getting this school year. I've already got emulators down pat :) but i can't find a good 'Paint.net'/'Photoshop' equivelent for mac. any help in that subject?

anyway, just post some good free :apple: apps for a bored high schooler.

There is so many:

Seashore (Not GIMP because it use X11 so its ugly)
Onyx (for system cleaning)
Handbrake (ripping DVDs)
TaskMate (ToDo list)
iSquint (video converter)
utorrent
Bean (free word processor) great for notes
Adium (instant messaging)
Caffeine (keeps your mac awake)
mac loc (locks your mac with a click)

1)Quicksilver (I love this program, makes application launching and file opening soo much easier and faster!)
2)Firefox (Best web browser for the add-ons and ability to customize)
3)AppCleaner (Makes uninstalling apps so much simpler, there are often preference files and other files that are missed when simply dragging and app to the trash)
4)Vuze (IMO best bittorrent client)
5)SMC Fan Control (makes it easy to keep your mac running cool by adjusting the minimum fan speeds)
6)Thunderbird (Mail is good, but I love thunderbird's ability to use ad-ons to customize your mail experience)
7)VLC (Plays pretty much any video or audio format you throw at it)
8)Growl (Notifications made easy and helpful)
9)Handbrake (Great video encoder/DVD ripper)
10)Adium (Simple and fun instant messaging client)

*There are many more that I could list so send me a PM if you want more suggestions

Here are some more...

1) Spotify- Listen to music legally through the web. (Not available in the US yet)

2) Mactubes- Download youtube videos from the web.

3) Jing- Video/Image Screen Capture software

4) Get Lyrical- Adds Lyrics to your iTunes music collection

thank you guys so much!

just a quick note: i don't use torrents because i'm afraid i'll do something illegal. thanks anyway, for those who offered them ;)
