iPhone 3G compass?

I was in Apple store today , and I saw that the both 3G and 3GS had the app. compass in it. Then I thought it's available for both . Then I purchased my 3G from an ATT store (since it's a business acc.) and updated it to 3.0. But the compass is not there .

I'm positive that I saw compass in 3G , how did it happen then? Is it special for Apple Stores? Or is there any way to get that app. in a 3G?

Nope, that's only for the 3GS.

Only the 3GS has the compass, I'm afraid you're mistaken.

Only the 3GS, not just in software, but the presence of the actual magnetometer in the 3GS that isn't present in the 3G.

that's interesting .. I'm so positive that there were 2 different desks 1 for 3G 1 for 3GS and they both had this app. I had my friend with me and I showed the same thing to her too. But I did not ask it to an employee ..

I'll go and take a look at it tomorrow.
