Just got my 17" Macbook Pro about two weeks ago.

At first, I really loved doing gestures on the trackpad.

Now, I find it a nightmare.

It is so easy to move my finger the wrong way and accidentally
resize the page. I will be in the middle of surfing or even typing
a message and if my finger is not completely curved, I will throw
the trackpad into gesture mode and my screen goes into multiple
resizes.

I found no way to turn the gestures off under PREFERENCES -> TRACKPAD.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for the assistance.

I just got my 13" MBP and I noticed that I was resizing pages too, but it was only because where I use to rest my left thumb on my old laptop is now part of the trackpad.

I have done this a few times to for the same reason. Will get used to it but. However one thing I am finding impossible is using goggle maps with the track pad - I always end up plugging it a mouse for that.

So I am guessing for the most part that gestures cannot be
turned off.

I don't like that feature anymore. Very annoying.

I had the same problem..
If you switch to firefox as your browser, you can turn off just that gesture in the firefox settings.

about:config.
