I think it'd be a pretty cool addition to iTunes.

The OSX store - all purchases could run through the traditional iTunes route, but the programs themselves don't have to be managed through iTunes (like the iPhone apps and the like)

Think about it, apple could offer games, widgets, programs, plug-ins etc. All in the same place as their music, movies and apps.

it's odd they haven't done this already.
it makes so much sense.
Oh well I guess it did take from early 90's to a couple three years back to go from newton to iphone.
sometimes apple can be a bit slowwwww, almost dull.
They almost had it with the newton but they were a little bit, ever so slightly, closed architecture.
I wanted to use newtons to control lab instruments with the infrared port but they would not release either source or an API for the infrared. Now they have gone to the opposite extreme with the iphone and you can do almost whatever you want.
I look forward to app store for computers becoming the norm. Apple can do it now or eat someone else's dust. follow the $

So Apple got the idea from Boesky? Who seems to have been banned from this forum...

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPod; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-gb) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8C148 Safari/6533.18.5)

Hahahahha. Fun looking back on this. I wonder what new things apple will come up with in the future
