Yeah, I was waiting until these showed up to make my purchase. I am a college student and I think I'll still go ahead and get the education price and get the free ipod.
But wasn't there a problem with the 1.7 firmware update (1.5 > 3.0)? People had the spinning beachball issue when they replaced/upgraded their stock hd.Yes you can replace it any other SATA hard drive or SSD.

2.66 15" for $1699
Is the $1699 2.66 GHz a good deal? I may just jump on that deal........
Correct but you can get the new one for $1099 (education price) AND the free ipodUm, you can't get the education discount or the free iPod deal with refurbished Macs. Refurbs are already a good deal.

Personally the previous revision with the ExpressCard slot is a better choice.
I've got my eye on that one too! Please post your thoughts after you receive it!I agree. I just purchased the $1449 refurb that comes the 9600 with 512mb and the expresscard slot and 320 gb HDD. I can do without the extra battery life and this deal was too good to pass up.
