I bought a new, cheap monitor, and when it's set to the "default for display" setting, the screen image is horribly blurry/unusable. Through trial and error, I found that if I merely change the refresh rate to 60hz it looks perfectly clear. The monitor specs claim it is rated for 75hz. I did read some info on trying to change the monitor EDID stuff, but I'm not sure I want to mess with that.

Could the cable be the culprit? It's currently hooked up with an HDMI cable and a HDMI to DVI adaptor on the computer end. I did swap out the HDMI cable with a new one which didn't solve anything. Someone on another site suggested getting an HDMI to DVI cable to eliminate the adaptor.

This is on a 3,1 with a Nvidia Geforce GTX 285 1GB.
