After many posts and reading, I just about made up my mind to purchase the Seagate Momentus 7200.4 ST9500420AS 500GB 7200 RPM 2.5" SATA 3.0Gb/s Internal Notebook Hard Drive - OEM.

BUT, before purchasing I just want to make absolutely sure that I have the right drive for my laptop, which is the older Macbook Pro 15" Core 2 Duo 2.16 model.

I have read many posts that come with mixed reviews of the Momentus 7200.4, mainly that some love it and other hate its vibrations, heat, or killing the battery life.

I thought that perhaps the model of laptop may influence your experience, and would like to hear from any of you Macbook Pro owners of the older variety about your experiences upgrading to the Momentus 7200.4.

For instance, one thing I have heard is to get the AS and not ASG with fall protection, as the latter model conflicts with the MBP's sensor-motion mechanism. Is this true?

What about battery difference? Noise difference? Heat difference.

I want the drive to make my MBP last longer, not give it enough problems that I end up hating it.

Let me know and thank you everyone for your help and guidance on my many questions. :)
