I hope to get a copy of Snow Leopard this weekend. Are there any advantages to doing a clean install in stead of just upgrade the system?

Clean install will completely erase your computer. This can be helpful if you have a lot of old files or old programs that you want to just clear out.

An upgrade leaves all your stuff in place and just updates the system and apps.

Mail

Instead of making a whole new thread I thought I'd ask here:

I'm planning to do an Erase and Install for Snow Leopard. This would probably erase the emails I have in Mail right? Is there a way I would be able to get them back using Time Machine?

Check out the "Migration Assistant". If you save your data before the upgrade (say, on an external drive), it can be used to restore it.

I've asked his a few times but not got an answer

if i backup the entire computer using migration assistant or time machine will i be able to use adobe photoshop that is backed up or will i need to reinstall it from the disc?
