Ok well I have a severe Anxiety issue. I have been throwing up and feeling nervous 24/7 and can't get any sleep. Last night I only got 3 hours of sleep, my heart was pounding and I had butterflies in my stomach. I don't exactly know why I am nervous or what I am scared of but last week my grandma was diagnosed with breast cancer and that could be it because that's when it began.

I have skipped 2 of the 3 days of school, and went home early the day I was there due to throwing up and feeling nervous. I have lost 3 pounds since Friday.

I will be feeling fine for about an hour or two and I will feel nervous and feel like throwing up if my mind isn't preoccupied with reading or something.

I am going to the doctor hopefully today but am afraid of taking those medications because they are extremely addictive.

I am not seeking advice, I am just trying to get this off my chest.

I was normal just a week and a half ago.

ok thank you very much... i'm still not sure how i would be able to pass without the teacher actually teaching me.

Are you in HS, MS, or College? I dont know, so Im asking.
If its HS, you can schedule the therapy on weekends, or after school. You can make it work.

If it college, you can schedule appointments around your class schedule.

I doubt any reputable doctor would head straight for the tranquilisers.

Sleeplessness, nausea, palpitations, nervousness... have you had you thyroid checked?

Then maybe meds are the best solution, until you come to a point of equilibrium, well enough to go to school, then schedule therapy to help with the underlying issues that created your anxiety in the 1st place. You being in school is most important. If you can get medication to help with the effects, so you feel well enough for school, then you can get help for the underlying issues.

I know you are not seeking advice in this thread, you have another thread for that topic. However, TSE, I rarely find pattern in forums unless it is blaring, it is blaring. Excluding anything past page 3 of your threads that you have started and of course excluding girl, parent, etc advice, you have a passion of seeking medical advice.

You are young so I am thinking you have at least one parent who you live with that you really need to speak to. Acne, shy bladder, anxiety, eye issues, etc. These are all issues that you need to seek qualified medical advice for. It is possible you need something more than a simple check up.

I hope you are ok, but you are so young and it seems as though everything is falling apart for you. That is not normal for a young boy who should be having the time of his life right now.

problem is if you are in HS they will not give you meds. Most if not all meds for Anxiety and depression all carry the same warning of do not give to some one under the age of 18. Reason for it is the brain is not fully developed yet and the meds screw with it.

If HS your only real hope is therapy. If in college your school should have a counseling center who will hook you up with a referral you need to go to the schools clinic to get meds. That is how I got my antidepressants in college.

There are lots of anti-anxiety medications that can be given to children and adolescents whether it's an off label use or a targeted symptom. However, TSE, I think Jessica has hit the nail on the head here. You have presented multiple physiological concerns and are now describing possible physically related symptoms of anxiety. You need a full medical/psychological assessment to rule out medical issues and look closer at possible mental health concerns.

Like Jessica said, talk to your family, see some experts, and start working toward getting some answers.

I'm not 18 and doctors have me on boat loads of antianxiety and all kinds of other anti-drugs and sleeping pills. You are right about meds screwing with heads. One of the drugs make my cardiac issues waay worse.

Therapy never worked for me. Maybe it will work for you, TSE. I'm not a big fan of intentional relationships. Plus, my therapist sucked. Everyone agreed with me. I never go to therapy, only a psychiatrist. I'm gonna slowly get off all the drugs over the summer. The medicines really helped me.

Good luck.

In my view:

1) you need to talk to your parents or brother or sister if they are older than you
2) you need to talk to your doctor
3) you need to talk to your teacher/s - or get your family to do it if you feel you cannot
4) once the first 3 have been done, that will make a huge difference, and then you can focus on the next stage
5) stop worrying, easy said than done - but do the first 3 and things will seem so much better
6) then consider therapy, and maybe very short term medication to calm you down a little

If it helps, chat to people on here - but WARNING: you may get even more confused with differing advice on here or elsewhere on the internet

If you only had to do ONE thing, I would say talk to your family

You will feel so much better for it. Good luck.

Or if something is troubling you that you don't feel you can share with people you know, then phone or email the Samaritans (a non-religious, voluntary society providing anonymous, non-judgemental emotional support to those in distress 24/7).

Their US contact details can be found here: http://www.befrienders.org/helplines/helplines.asp?c2=USA

You can call/email and speak to their volunteers about anything you like.

+1. I've emailed when them before. Very nice people.

Well, they are tracking my heartbeat for 24 hours. I'm also giving urine samples, the doctor said it might be a form of cancer. I started crying. :(

Hey TSE, i too have anxiety, If you want to chat on msn or what ever PM me.

But i went to the doctor initially i said i didn't want medication, i tried counseling for about 10 weeks that did not help me one bit. I eventually went back there and said you need to do something for me. He gave me meds. When i started taking them i felt awful for a few days because they ulter your brain chemistry he said.

After that i felt heaps better, i started eating more, putting on weight, more talkative between my parents , family. I even talk openly about it now where before the meds or even during them i wouldn't talk to anyone about it. I bottled it up and... Well you don't want to do it.

Hang in there.
