Hello,

When I was using 8.0.2 something that I hated was that it was using too much space even though I didn't have a lot of pictures or music 7.8gb now after I upgraded to 8.1 I got all that space back now I am using 3.3gb of space.

I'm already loving 8.1

I actually got about 2.something. Nice catch.

I thought i got a bunch of space back too and then i saw that most of my music was waiting for download/install.

I suddenly regained about 1GB of space the day before iOS 8.1 became available. I got the message that my phone was almost full and that I needed to remove some stuff, and then my free space available suddenly went up to about 980MB. That's weird.

I think Apple built in some mechanism that clears out the "Other" space.

I did the update through iTunes, and the OTA had not come through to my phone yet.

I had 3.85 GB free on my 16 GB iPhone 5 prior to updating from 8.0.2 and had 5.02 GB free after updating to 8.1.

I was pleasantly surprised

Wow... I don't what it deleted, but after the OTA update to 8.1 my free space went from 2.2GB to 5.5GB :) I'm very happy with that, because it didn't make any sense why my iPhone was so full after just 1 month.

Didn't get any free space back, but last week, I restored my iPhone from iTunes and got about 4-5gb of space back. So I guess there wasn't any more space from "others" to reclaim back. :p

wow between turning on optimized photos for iPhone and the update i got back over 7gb.

I have 7GB available. Not bad. I use OneDrive for my photos and don't have much music on my 16GB iPhone 6.

I also use OneDrive (with free 30 GB online storage) for photos and Camera Roll backup . 8.1 did not seem to free up any significant space for me, but I still have 8.0 GB left on my 16 GB 5s.
