Best Buy send me an email about their event. It seems like a great time to purchase a new retina macbook pro as you can get back 8% back in rewards.
They also have reduced prices on the retina MBP, and you can also get an additional $100 education discount on top of that.

https://myrewardzone.bestbuy.com/offers/offersandpromotions/info/0900a76f80027b64

The details are they give you give 3x the points on purchases greater or equal to 1000. If you have their credit card you get an additional point for every dollar spent.

On a normal day, if you spend 2000 dollars, you would get 2000 dollar base points + 2000 dollar bonus points = 4000 bonus points. 250 reward points = $5, so 4000 bonus points, gives you back $80. $80 Dollars is 4% of the 2000 you spent, so it's like 4% cash back.

On July 22nd event, you get (3x rewards) 3*2000 = 6000 base points + 2000 bonus points = 8000 reward points or $160 dollar back or 8% cash back.

So for the base Retina you could if you had the education coupon.

2089.99 starting price
- 100.00 education discount
1989.99 = final price

Using their credit card you could get 8% additional of that 1989.99 or around $159 in cash rewards.

When I did my purchase they also gave me a 10% coupon, for a single item like gps hardware, or a digital camera through the mail.

So you could end up getting a new camera or gps for significantly less or free.

So if your in the market, I would sign up for their CC, before the event and perhaps reserver a rMBP 1-2 days before the event.

*This is not as good as there previous offer where they gave you the education discount to match Apple + $150 gift card + Reward Zone CC points (like $80 for the base RMP), but this better than the current offer.

*Just make sure you pay off that CC within the 30 days, the interest they charge is crazy.
