There possibly might have been a thread on this one in the past, but I can't see it.

I am planning to get the 80GB iPod and am unable to decide if I want a black one or a white one. Both have their + and -. I went through some of the user reviews for both and my dilemma continues. Here's what I found...

Though they have had their differences, the overall consensus of the reviews was that scratches and fingerprints are more visible on the black iPod than the white one. However, most of the reviews that say this are based on the black iPod nano. I am not sure if the 80GB video iPod will have the same amount of scratches.

Of course, being a video fanatic, I completely agree with the fact that for watching videos, the black background is much better than the white. Also, some reviews have suggested that the white one hangs sometimes and needs to be restarted. Is this true?

Will any of those transparent protectors that are out there in the market help my black iPod resist those scratches? Will the quality of the video be disturbed when I put these protectors?

Decisions.... decisions.. !! Any thoughts???

everyone buys black, so white is rarer i think, ive not met anyone with a white nano (other than my brother) or a white video ipod (other than i), oh but black shuffles are rare.

Just make up your own mind, we do not know what type of person you are, and what kind of clothing u wear. So just look at both of them, and choose. The insides of them both are exactly the same, so that should both affect your judgement.
And if you are a video fanatic, do not be prepared to wowed by the ipod, I have to date never managed to finish watching one episode of anything on my iPod, and I have had mine since its release. (its a black one if that makes a difference)

The 5G iPods are made of the exact same material as the old nanos, so they will scratch just as easily. Also, the black iPod will show scratches more than a white one would.

The black and white iPods are exactly the same inside so that is utter bulls**t.

I used to have one of those screen protectors on my iPod, but i took it off because it made the screen look more pixelated. However, it could of just been because mine was a cheap one. If you want the best on the market, go for an InvisibleShield. If you are not convinced, watch this.

i got white- gotta go classic. plus i couldnt have a black ipod with a white macbook!

True. Get matching iPod for your notebook. I perfer black though, even though I have a white iMac.
