Im going to get my magsafe replaced tomorrow. It has a short right at the connection point, insulation is not broken but i think its from winding it up on the fold out "wrap?" points on the brick. The new design was obviously because of this problem i think. What do you think the chances of getting a new design is? probably not but it would be nice.

You almost certainly won't get one with the new design, but it doesn't hurt to ask. For whatever reason, sometimes Apple Stores don't want to replace power adapters with visible cable damages, though they should. If you run in to trouble, suggest that your Apple Store representative view http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1713 (there's some information that only Apple can see at that web page, too).

This new shape is much better. It might unplug more easily when someone takes his feet in the cable or so.

That would be a function of the magnet, not of the connector. I don't have any issue with the original connector.

There isnt any visible damage to the wire. Anyways I called the apple store they are swapping it with the new design. ;)

I think it matches Apple's silver line of computers. I'm surprised why don't supply this Magsafe with macbook pros.

No, the new one is 60w, while the MBPs use 85w.
Hoping for a 85w version of the new design soon, though.

The 13" MBP uses the 60W unit. Only the 15 and 17" ship with the 85W chargers. On Apple's store site they list the new 60W with angled connector as compatible with 13" MacBook and 13" MacBook Pro.
