The mailman just dropped off 4GB of RAM (Crucial) and a 500GB HD (WD Blue).

I'm going to be installing it in a base model 13" MBP later tonight (see sig for current specs.

I know this a popular upgrade for a lot for 13" MBP users. What benchmarks should I run before and after? I'd like to see how my performance increased or deceased.

X Bench gives a nice point of reference and checks the disk performance. GeekBench is pretty much all processor.

You could also use AJA but X Bench should suffice.

Just finished putting in the 4GB of ram and HD, now waiting for osx to install.

I was surprised that I didn't need 10.5 on the HD before installing 10.6 with only the upgrade disc.

bad news, I think the Blue is a little louder than I thought (I was wishing for dead silent)...but at least it's not DOA *knock on wood*

Remember Xbench is going to give you the results you're looking for mostly because geekbench does measure mostly processor.

Edit: Just saw that mentioned above. I got nuttin then. 😱
