Anyone was thinking about buying the new 80gb iPod...it is only $320 at CompUSA...30$ cheaper than the apple site!!

If only they would have a discount on the new nano...

i'd rather pay $30 than wait a month for my iPod to ship, heh.

but, doesn't matter to me.. i just ordered a refurb 60gb
i don't think the extra 20gb is worth the extra $120 to buy the 80gb new.

I am sure that Compusa gets great deals on these iPods when buying direct from Apple to allow them to slash the price like this.

Actually, their margins are VERY slim, MAYBE 5%. This is a traffic move. Bring in some traffic and sell them accessories, which they get a solid 500-700% markup on sometimes.

Wal-Mart still has the old iPods for higher prices. Two people were looking at them today. I tried to catch them to tell them to buy from apple.com. Who knows how long it will be before Wally World catches up.

I can assure you this is not the case. CompUSA's cost is very close to the MSRP.
