I just checked the battery health on my iPhone and it’s at 83%. Yesterday it was still at 84%. I THINK MY IPHONE BATTERY IS CRASHING HARD!!! I try to check it at least once a day to make sure it’s still working. Do you guys think my iPhone will make it till the new iPhone comes out or should I buy an iPhone now to be safe?!

This is my iPhone 6s+, battery last replaced in November 2020 - over four and a half years ago.

You'll be fine.

At that rate your phone isn’t going to be able to power on anymore by this evening. Quickly email Tim Apple and see if he’ll overnight you a 17 out of the goodness of his heart.

I don't trust the battery health in settings. Go by real world experience.

Additionally, you could be at the margin between 83 and 84, and you may see it go back and forth before it settles on a lower value.

But stop dwelling on it. That is the insight I can offer. Pay attention to battery life in your everyday activities. Does the phone get you through the day, or between the times when you can usually top it off. If it becomes a problem, a real life problem, then think about a new phone, battery replacement or whatever.

No one can tell you what you need to do because this is all about you and how you use the device. But please, you will be happier and less stressed if you stop dwelling on the battery health number in settings.

Checking/monitoring the battery health is unnecessary. And it’s bad for your mental health. If your device (e.g., iPhone) is functioning without you checking the battery health, it’s working.

I would never, nor can I recall anyone, describe moving err decreasing one (percent) as “crashing hard” or “CRASHING HARD!!!"

If it drops multiple percentage in a short period of time (e.g., a few days), then I recommend a recalibration:

You can do one anyway, although, I’m trying not to endorse battery health obsession.

This is my iPhone 8, 2251 cycles, battery never replaced, I will never replace a battery either, and who cares anyway?

OP, you’ll be fine.
Nice. My iPhone X is at 1255 cycles and the latest log (via Battery Stats) calculates to 73.5% of original/new capacity.
Apple/iOS has been estimating the battery health at ~74% for at least a few months.
The last time I logged it with coconutBattery was in June with 1244 cycles, an estimate of ~72% capacity.

These battery posts are getting ridiculous now!
No reason to add extra calories (i.e., sugar coat).
