MBP (late 2008) getting very hot since SSD+latest firmware

I recently installed an Intel SSD and after a few days also updated my MBP firmware (fixed the cdrom noise etc). I now notice that my MBP tends to get pretty hot even after a few mins. Tried installing Fancontrol and this shows the fans running at 3000+rpm after a few minutes. This is using the 9400M videocard too!

Any idea what could be causing this?
