I'm using a Seagate 1TB HD and a Samsung 840 EVO 256 GB ssd, both internal, that I've combined into 1 fusion drive. It has been working fine. My computer is a 2011 iMac with Mountain Lion 10.8.5. I want to update the 840 EVO firmware while it exists in the computer via the Terminal. I know I need to create a bootable CD or USB first.

My question is has anyone successfully updated their ssd while it is being used as a fusion drive? Is it possible to upgrade the ssd in its current fusion state? or is it necessary to "dismantle" the fusion drive, lose all my data, update the ssd, recreate the fusion drive, and use my Time Machine backup to restore the drive. Thank you for your help!

Problem resolved

I added Samsung's Magician software to my iMac's Bootcamp and upgraded the ssd firmware easily. I like the easy solutions.
