MacBook Pro Redesign

I know there's going to be speed bumps for the MBP in Q1 2010, but when do you think we'll see a redesign of it [MBP]? In many years to come, or maybe around September time?

I really want to get one, but I feel the design is starting to get a bit dated, so would be kicking myself if one of the next releases is a redesigned version!

To be honest, while I found the 13" MacBook a huge upgrade for the better (from plastic to unibody), I've never liked the redesigned 15" and 17" MacBook Pros. I'll always love the classic MacBook Pro design, I wish they could have kept the same basic design but in unibody construction instead. Oh well.
 
Apple spent a considerable effort to come up with the "new" unibody design. I don't think a redesign is coming any time soon. Plus, the unibody design is highly functional, plus it offers a much improved structural rigidity not only compared to the pre-unibody shells but also as compared to pretty much anything out there in the PC world. So really, what would be driving the change?
 
The current design looks dated? :eek:

We had the last MacBook Pro design for 5 Years! (Powerbook G4 was basically the same) and i still love it. I Doubt we will see a redesign for a while to be honest. Unless they change the MBP back into more of a Pro machine.
 
I highly doubt that we will see a change to the MBP case. Just look how long it took apple to change the look to the unibody MBP. The case dates back to the G4 PowerBook (with minor changes). Given that apple just released the unibody MBPs a little over a year, its really really unlikely that they would so quickly abandon the design.

OP, you do realize the Unibody design is only 15 months old, yes? You can safely say there will be no redesign in the next refresh. September is another story, but I doubt it. As was previously stated, Apple is known to keep their notebook designs for quite some time.
 
If there is a redesign it would be very very minor and not a radical change like pre-uMBP to uMBP.
 
Dated really? didn't they just release the unibodies last year? How many redesigns do you think Apple does? It is usually on a 4 or longer year cycle.
 
Bump a redesign, I want the old, all silver look to come back. I have a late 06 MPB and I want to upgrade, but I like the design of my current MBP so much more than the current ones.
 
I still love my Powerbook design. I will finally upgrade to what ever they release next but I will miss the all aluminum look.

Yup, simply replace the black keys with silver ones, remove the black bezel border, keep the unibody and offer a matte screen option. Boom! You have a new refreshed look without major cost to Apple to retool. :)

This is the most they would do. But... even that seems unlikely with Apple's track record of notebook design changes.

I personally would love it if they made those changes.
