In the past Apple has sent out the media invitations 2 weeks or 10 days before the event... I beginning to wonder why Apple hasn't sent out the invites for the supposed event coming up in 9 or 10 days?

Has apple ever sent out invites later than 10 days ( like 1 week before)?

I think they usually send them out a week before. But don't expect information about the iPhone. The rumored Jan 27th event is going to be all about MacBook Pros and maybe the tablet.

IIRC, Apple send them out during the week, not on the weekend. Last I check, it's still the weekend. We should hear within the next few days. Apple doesn't have a set schedule for sending out the invites. It can be anywhere from a month to less than a week from the event.

I wouldn't be shocked if we see an invitation tomorrow or Tuesday, but I don't foresee the iPhone to be updated beyond the possible introduction of the 8GB 3GS.

Given how Apple seems to operate, I would imagine that a significant amount of resources has gone toward the Tablet, reducing the possibility of the iPhone. Additionally, that would be one rather long event: Tablet, MacBook Pro's, iPhone, iTunes, iPhone OS Updates?

At most, I think Apple'll say something about iPhone 4.0 SDK for the tablet and iPhone but nothing about the new iPhone. There'll be a media event in March with the final release of iPhone 4.0 and the announcement of the new iPhone and it's shipping later in June.

Think about it this way... They just updated iTunes to 9.0 so the most I see on that is a 5 sec comment on how its 64-bit now, Macbook Pros a 10 sec bit on new processors, then focus on 3 things Tablet, iPhone and then the OS that runs on both of those!

Most invitations from Apple go out the week before the event.

If there really is an event on the 26th or 27th (still yet to be proven of course) I would expect the invitations to go out around the 20th.

I don't really think that the Nexus One and Droid launches went over as well as even Apple thought they did. It makes more sense for them to spread them out. I still say Tablet and MacBook Pro for the January event. There is no evidence that suggests an iPhone outside of that one fishy report regarding Korea. But an OLED 4G iPhone in a week or so? I'll say prove me wrong.

Well Apple has not done a real "One more thing" in a long time.... So we could only hope!

I'd love to see a new iPhone introduce, I just see little evidence to suggest that it would happen now and a lot of evidence that would say that it happens sometime in the Spring.

Also, Apple doesn't react – they innovate; even if the Droid and Nexus One had gone over better, I imagine that Apple would have gone about their business. In the end, it seems that neither phone had a whole of people leaving the iPhone; perhaps more people leaving for the Nexus One.

As others have said we could should see the invite this week, even as late as Wednesday (going off of past event timing). I expect we will hear about the next major iPhone OS (i.e. 4.0) but highly doubt any actual hardware specs will be available (unless they are inextricably tied to the software).

They'll probably be sent out a few days before, maybe 5 or 6. I don't see why Apple would need to send them out too far in advance. It's not like it's a dinner invite to friends who have to check their schedules.

The video cameras in the nanos last September was a "one more thing."

I'm hoping the "one more thing" this time is a tablet, I also say spring for iPhone 4G.

Apple could send out invitations 24 hours in advance to the major outlets and everyone would still be there to cover it.

The Droid, Nexus One, Palm Pre Plus, Palm Pixi Plus, Sony Xperia X10 and others are out or about to be released. We all know these might not be major contenders for the iPhone crown, but it might be enough to push Apple to make an announcement.

Apple announces the iPhone 4G with iTablet, Macbook Pros, and other upcoming products then drops the price of the 3GS by $X00. That would be enough to keep people buying iPhones while keeping the spotlight on them.

Will it happen? Who knows, but we'll see in a couple of weeks.

Apple released the invitation today!
