I want to get my wife a MacBook. Lately I have been seeing a few refurbished ones pop up on Apples' online store. Are the refurbished macs okay to buy or will I have issues with them?

Thanks, JK

They are VERY worth getting. They have no nice box, and may be less than perfect cosmetically. But they have received a technical once over by Apple, come with the same 1-year warranty, and qualify for Applecare extension.

We've bought 3 Macbooks (2 Aluminum, 1 W/U), one MBP, and one Mac Mini (late 2009) from the refurb store - I don't ever see myself buying brand new when the quality of a refurb is so good. The absolute only thing that would make you know it's not brand new is the box it comes in.

Question: is this the box that it comes in?

Looks better than most normal laptop boxes if you ask me.

Yes that is the box refurbs come in.

They are totally worth getting. The vast majority of refurbs are just 30-day returned computers that the person did not want.

Thanks!

Thanks guys, I really appreciate the input. My wife will be happy.

I would say yes, go for it.
