Well honestly this thing is made by some new German company, well new to the U.S. at least, so I'm not sure how long they will last. With the already mentioned eMac you are dealing with a company that will be around for you and a product that will last. For close to a grand you can do better than this machine and frankly if it's Disney then you are probably paying for the brand not the quality of the machine.

This reminds me of those Barbie/Hot Wheels pcs that were floating around several years ago.. The Hot Wheels PC actually looked uhh.. well not so retarded compared to this.

An eMac would be a hell of a lot better purchase..

For the most part, I would have to agree with FuzzyBallz on this. I don't know if you consider me a 'youngster' or a child, being 15, but I sure wasn't handed a computer to me. I worked for my iMac. Now-a-days, kids expected to be handed $1,500 computers for no real reason (also you might want to look at the thread about the hipe-e or what ever it's called). And I also think that kids spend too much time around computers (or things like television, ect.). They could be spending their time out doing something productive. That's not to say computers aren't productive, but I'd have to say, 85% of the kids that I know, only occasionally use a computer for things they are suppose to: word processing, keeping up with news, ect. But rather spend their time illegally downloading copyrighted material, chatting, and for the most part, wasting time.

I just think kids should be spending less time on the computer and more time doing beneficial things.

*sigh*..... I really don't know why I made this post, to get somethings off my chest, or to raise my post count, whatever....

That's a computer for the parents. Obviously it's for the kids to use, but it's designed to appeal to certain parents' "issues." You know what I mean--where everything has to be cute. Everything has to be perfect. That's a good way to warp your kids.

Personally I think it's a bad idea to give kids their own computers in the first place.

get a blue crt imac (or spray paint an emac, if you insist on having only the highest specs on a 6 year old's computer) and duct tape some mickey mouse ears on it.

I am the same age, but when I was 7 (I know we are talking about 6 year olds, here), I was asking for a computer. I had used one at my cousin's house, and at my grandparents' house. My grandparents did end up buying me a HP computer, and I loved it.

Yes, I've been where you've been too. I purchased a 2000 PB G4, and I spend way too much time on it. If you consider MacRumors news, then I am keeping up with the news. I don't do all of that file sharing crap, but I do IM. I don't have any problems with sitting in bed, with my PB on my lap, chattin' away...

I can't believe you people. Preaching what a computer or what KIND of computer is needed for, for a 6 year old? Do you really think the kid really cares if the computer is a G4 or G5? Do you think the kid really cares about the amount of ram the computer can hold? The kid will LOVE that it looks cool with the mickey mouse ears and that he can play a few games on it.

Give me a break and get a life; stop picking a part a computer for a youngster just for the sake of trying to get your point across that Mac is better than PC. This is a 6 year old we are talking about.
