Hi,

I've recently got a new Macbook, and for the last few days have been repeatedly getting a message appearing in my terminal of the form:

Broadcast Message from root@<ComputerName>.local (no tty) at <timeStamp>...
<DateStamp> <ComputerName> kernel[0]:

with no additional information following the colon.

My syslog says this repeats thousands of times, but it will appear in my terminal maybe every couple of minutes.

Has anyone got any ideas what could be causing this, and how to fix it?

Thanks in advance.

Me too. Something very odd is going on, evidenced by my machine freezing for minutes at a time with no apparent heavy CPU load, applications taking minutes to launch etc.

I had this exact issue.

Solved by performing an "archive and install" of the OS (doesn't affect programs or data)

The OS had obviously corrupted somehow.

I'm getting this too.....

I've been getting this for about a month now..... The computer all but goes non-responsive. I was worried someone had hacked into the computer and was messing with me. But now after searching various forums, I think this is a security related update that's gone bad in a big way. Has anyone else fixed this issue yet?
