My friend is selling his 12 inch powerbook...867 mhz, 640 ram, 40 gig harddrive, OSX 10.4.8 on it for $400. He says it is in good condition and comes with a sleeve. Battery only lasts 30 minutes...do you guys think I should buy it?

Check to see if the battery is eligible for replacement under the Apple program. I had that same laptop (purchased in March 2003) and my battery was replaced.

Also, the price is killer. I sold mine (60GB, SuperDrive, iLife '06, and MS Office v.X) for $700 just the other week.

I'm posting from a machine of pretty much that spec. It's probably worth $400. This can do most things I throw at it without slowing down too much. Forget any graphical games, but you'd probably guessed that.

If you buy it and need a new and/or spare battery, I have a brand new one that I received as part of the Battery Replacement programme that I would be happy to part with for a fair sum. Let me know...

I loved mine. I too sold it recently cause i needed to money, and managed to get $650 out of mine. It would be a great computer for school, i loved that i could fit it in my DayPack, when i needed to take it to school.

I also have a 12"PB 867 640 60GB HDD BT & AE Combo-drive running 10.3.9, iLife '05, Office v.X. Someone here recently PM'd me and asked if I was interested in selling, but I had no idea on price. Any suggestions. Battery also lasts about 45 minutes.

Got it for $425...usual scuffs and scratches...threw in a free skin and wireless mouse.
