I have an odd issue with my Macbook: the case is cracking and thin strips of plastic are peeling off of it. I am not sure exactly when I got it, but the model identifier is Macbook2,1.

I will post pictures later, but it's happening at the top by the iSight and down on the right side of the trackpad.

Is this to be expected or what? Anything I can do?

Well it depends on what model MB you have. Apple was replacing the KB/palm rest for free on the white models. As far as I know they just stopped doing that a few months ago. I guess it wouldn't hurt to take a trip to your nearest apple store and have them look at it. They would even replace it for free even though apple care has expired with no questions asked.

Call AppleCare, or bring it in to an Apple Store. From your description, it sounds like a common problem that Apple has been fixing even for machines that are out of warranty.
