Hi everyone.
I have a rare model i think:eek:
its the MacBook 5,1 its the alluminum unibody macbook NOT pro ((late 2008 i bougth it in May 2009)) 13.3 core 2 duo 2.4 ghz 4gb ram no firewire no SD slot.
now a days you just see a macbook pro 13 or a macbook white but no macbook 13 al unibody u.u

it has the original 250GB toshiba 5400rpm Hard drive and im in need of more storage space, i have 3 options OR you can make a suggestion if you want

i dont know if i should go for a

1tb 5200rpm 8mb cache western digital
640gb 5400rpm 8mb cache samsung
or some 500gb 7200rpm 16mb cache Hard drive

and for the 1TB this is something im worried in case i decide for that one
its posted on the WD site, i dont know if it would fit in my macbook

1 TB models are 12.5 mm high and may not be compatible with all notebook systems. Consult system specifications for maximum allowable drive height before attempting to install.:(

i want the 1tb for the storage BUT it would be slower than the 500Gb 7200rpm, BUT the 500gb 7200rpm woul be noisy and more battery eater

thats my dilema i need more space but i need all the battery i can get and i dont want a slow machine, tons of time to boot:confused:.

here are the links of the hdd i saw but youre welcome to recommend the ones you think:)

THANKS :):apple::apple::apple::apple::apple:

I am almost certain the MBP hard drives can't be higher than 9.5 mm, which means you can't use the 1 tb model.
I would go for the 500 gb 7200 rpm drive if I was you.

All unibody MacBooks and MBPs can take 12.5mm drives (link1 link2). Amazon has it for the best price.

If you need a lot internal storage, that's your best bet. Of course 7200rpm drive would be faster but if you're fine with your current, there is no need for it. One option is to replace your SuperDrive with SSD for extreme speeds.

Just take 500GB or 750GB 2.5" Drive, and I think 5400 will be fine, when I had my 7200 I was unhappy with the amount of noise it made comparing to 5400, and the performance difference is nowhere near +20%, I produce audio with Logic Pro, and believe me it doesn't hurt with 5400. ;)

ok, i dont have a MBP i have a plain macbook NOT the white one, so i think its the same body structure CASE of a 13 MBP i think?
so if the 1tb 5200rpm its only a 20% slower than the 7200rpm but it consumes less battery power and less noise and more storage, sice as sMik says it wouldnt hurt... so im thinking getting the 1tb definately a SSD is out of my budget and it would be really really fast but i think the 256Gb its around 600bucks and my hdd is 250gb BUT i need more space u.u

saying its true that it wouldnt be THAT loud a 7200rpm
but higher speed = more battery i think?

so its a fact that the 12.5mm will fit in my mac?

its so hardd for me to choose onee:eek:
vote people.
1tb 5200rpm 8mb cache or 500gb 7200rpm 16mb cache
please consider the battery life, noise, speed and storage!
and if its true that a 12.5mm will fit in my MacBook 5,1 (late 2008) check it with Mactracker

THANKS TO ALL!!!
