I see that MCE is offering a free external enclosure for the stock superdrive when you purchase an optibay...very tempting. The question is this:

I'm going to buy an Arrandale/whatever MBP when they do finally come out, and I already have a 30GB OCZ Core V2 SSD on hand. I kind of want to make the SSD my boot drive for OS X through the use of an optibay. What's this do to Apple's warranty?

Nothing as you can easily remove the optibay and put the SD back in.

Wow, so you can remove the superdrive and it won't void your warranty? Keep in mind apple has sensors built into most of their products to prevent tampering.

I dunno if I would say 'sensors.' Probably just those stickers you see on almost all electronics...

It doesn't matter what they use, the point is, once you trigger the damn things there's no going back. Are you, or are you not, allowed you remove your SuperDrive?

How do you know that the current optibays will for the new macbooks? There may be design changes, right?
