I have had my 2008 Mac Pro with 8800 GT sine March. Recently I've had artifacts (lines messed up) while scrolling in Firefox as well as Textmate. Are these early signs of graphics card failure?

Here's an example:

If I select the text and/or resize the window, it fixes itself. It seems to be centered around scrolling.

I have this issue with my 1st gen mac pro and it is a failing video card (ATI) so my best guess would be that yes, it is starting to fail. It could continue to work for a long time but I would take it in. My macpro is way out of warranty so I won't bother replacing till it fails.

I also have a macbook pro with the same video card and am scared to death of how long it may/may not last. Not to mention, it is the HOTTEST laptop I have ever used! It has already burned my leg once before! They apparently are doomed for failure too according to threads I have come across in here.:apple:
