I'm about to order a MP 2.8 Single Quad.

I'm not clear if the 8800GT upgrade is worth $200. for my usage.

I'm not a professional but do use iMovie; Photoshop; Burning; type apps regularly and am not a gamer.

What would be the determining factor I should consider?

Hopefully there is a reasonably simple answer. ;)

Thanx

no stick with your ati card, you don't need more graphic power. When you start using more intensiv graphic apps - you could reconsider, but thats in the future and there will be better cards for less money.

another question - why did you buy a mac pro - an imac or even mac mini would be much better for your profile

I have two 19" monitors w/ wireless keyboard with a long in the tooth G4 Tower.

As for the iMac, for close to the same costs I can get the power and expansion in place of paying for the monitor, etc.

Thanx for the help.

If you want to get deeper into video (DVD Studio Pro, Final Cut, etc.), the extra horsepower will come in handy. Much better resale value too.
