I am new to GeekTool and am trying to get a handle on what the components of the scripts mean.

Does anyone know of a scripting diagram that shows what the different parts of the scripts do?

I would be interested in more information on this too

Can any of you Geektool gurus help us out with your insight or point us in the right direction?

The really "interesting" parts of GeekTool are the shell commands. The shell commands are the same as used in Terminal.app with minor differences. The shell is some variant of the bash shell (personally I like zsh in the Terminal, but that's me!).

Shell scripting is a huge area of programming on its own, predating GeekTool and its variants.

That's one of the things I really like about GeekTool is that I can leverage my increasing knowledge and use of the Terminal.

Hope this is what you meant. ;)
