Macbook pro Hot after 10.6.3. Update

My uMBP used to idle around 55c and 2000 rpm in 10.6.2. Ever since I upgraded it has been idling around 70c with fans around 3200 RPM. Has anyone else experienced this? I have reset both Pram and SMC and they did nothing.

No problem here. Mine idles @ 40* C.

Open up the activity monitor and see if anything is using the cpu.

Mine as actually gone down, before the update it was around 50 - 54c now is it between 45 - 47c

I've not noticed any difference in my temps after installing 10.6.3. I was using my MBP all day yesterday putting it through its paces and my temps weren't any different then before.

I haven't noticed a difference, but after reading these threads I've been running Temperature Monitor to check. It's actually running a little cooler.

With 10.6.2 xBench reported open GL at 90.34

with 10.6.3 xBench reported open GL at 160.29

(the higher the better)

open GL is running much more efficiently now, if using open GL there will be a cooler CPU, at there will be less of a CPU hit!

Mine's running cooler.

Noticeably cooler to the touch. Especially when any page with stupid flash is running. It used to be that the fan would fire up within 10-15 secs., now it's minutes...

All in all, I like this update.

Oh yes, and everything is snappier

I dont have any proceses that are making the cpu run hard. Pretty much just chrome and itunes and a few apps for lyrics and such. I turned it off overnight and restarted it this morning. It started out nice and cool but after about 30 min its back into the 70's.

I noticed my mbp is running hot right after updating but under the Time Machine menu it says "Verifying Backup", though the icon is not animated. I don't think I've ever seen this before (Or the icon has been animated at least). I imagine the heat is from doing that.

I havent plugged in my time machine drive since upgrading so It cant really be this, unless it thinks my time machine drive is on.
