Now that we've seen the release of the new MBP's earlier today, does anyone know when Apple would update the MacBooks? As I post this thread, I see that the update is due in another 20 odd days.

I just hope, they don't update them with C2D procs and call it the best processor in town :p. I'd also love to see a black MacBook, though I doubt if they'll release one.

I'll go out on a limb and say the Macbook won't be updated soon. In 09 I believe 3 versions came out, latest in Oct 09 6 months ago. Maybe late 2010, but I'd say 2011 a new Macbook could come out.....Again this is just my guess, I probably am wrong.

No earlier than in August, September or October. If, not when, it's updated this year, then probably just after the annual free iPod deal ends.

You really think they'll hold out a whole year? Summer education is a popular selling time. I'm guessing right before the back-to school deal starts. The free iPod deal has always been to clear out the stock of old iPods, not to sell old Macs.

When does the back to school deal usually start? Is it the same in the UK as it is in the US?

So do we want to guess what the new Macbook will get?

Before yesterday, the 13" Macbook Pro and 13" Macbook had exactly the same specs, except the Macbook had a bigger hard drive and no fancy keyboard. Now, the Macbook is due for an update in the near future.
To recap, the 13" Macbook Pro only got a 140Mhz CPU bump, a 250GB hdd (up from 160GB), new GPU (the 320M), and longer battery life.

Will we see the same updates on the white Macbook? I bet it will get a 2.4Ghz C2D, and it's got to get a new GPU (the 320M makes sense). Overall, it will probably get the same updates as the MBP, with no change in hard drive size (as it already has 250GB). Longer battery life as well? It's honestly the least they can do (without stepping on the MBP's toes). And unlike with the 13" MBP, they can't increase its price: after all, it's got to stay a sub-$1000 laptop (by 1$). And if what I say is correct, I'm getting one.

Any guesses?

I suspect we'll get another update of the 13" MBP to the newer intel processors (yesterday's update were just stopgap models). At that time, we'll get an update of the white MacBook too. I'm guessing it will be July or August, just in time for back to school promos.

Who said th enew MBP 13" was a stop gap? Even Steve Jobs said, they chose battery life and experience over 10-20% power boost. Don't think you'll see an update to them soon, seems like Steve's happy with his choice.

I guess the upgrade would be similar to the one we saw in the 13" MBP.

It would look funny to see the MB having an i3/i5 proc and the 13" MBP having c2d

If the MB already had a C2D processor at 2.4 GhZ, what makes the 13" MBP "pro"? Is it the backlit keyboard, aluminum unibody and extra ports? That's it?

Even with the upgrade of the 13" MBP, it's still a very similar machine (specs-wise) to the relatively "old" MB, is it not? Doesn't that seem a little strange? The MB seems like much better value...Or am I missing something.

It's just a guess. As I've said, they did this before on the Macbook line.
