Has anyone used macmall before? I noticed their price is actually cheaper than the edu store discount because there is no tax. macmall comes out to about 50 dollars cheaper for top model 15 inch with antiglare. Is there a reason they're cheaper? (bad service, bad product, etc)

Amazon has some nice discounts too & much more consumer friendly when it comes to DOA machines. You've been warned.

for some reason the antiglare is actually cheaper than the glossy there too

I didn't notice the Buy Now button also says "Customize"!

Oddly many of the upgrades are more expensive than at Apple's site.

But it still ends up cheaper than the edu store discount when tax is taken into account...

I also just noticed that the option is there, but it also says they're not in stock :(

i couldn't find the hi-res antiglare on amazon though...

Amazon doesn't do CTOs. But my comment is about MacMall are about their non-return policy, even for defective machines. They will send you to Apple and Apple will only to a repair on DOA machines not purchased by them. I learned this the hard and expensive way. OTOH if you buy from Apple and they send you a DOA machine they will replace it with a new machine.

That's exatly why I don;t buy from MacMall -return policy sucks.

Seems like bad policy on Apple's part too then. They should treat all customers the same, no matter where they bought it from.

I had 4 defective 27" iMacs in a row. It was initially purchased from a reseller. There was same hesitance/delay with a local Apple store because I got it from a reseller, but ultimately they got me a replacement. When I mentioned this experience in a thread months back, some people were surprised at the hesitance, some weren't. It seems there's no consistency to how Apple treats purchases from resellers based on the variety of customer experiences I've read.
