just install the ram and don't worry about it. If you have to have your laptop repaired just return the factory ram and you'll be fine. Apple doesn't cause problems for people who have installed their own stuff unless they really damage things in the process. If you know what you are doing you'll be fine. heck, if you can follow the youtube videos you'll be fine. Its a 5 minute process and quite simple.

My Understanding is installing RAM does not void your apple care, but installing a HD does void your HD warranty even if you put the stock back in.
