8gb SDHC Boot Disk

I am attempting to make a boot disk using an 8 gig class 6 SDHC card. Every time I attempt to partition it, I seem to come just shy of the required space for the install. I have seen on the forums and other sites that it is possible to do this with just an 8 gig card, but I have been unable to. Can anyone give some insight here?
 
You could try deselecting the unnecessary stuff when you install it (eg. Printer drivers you won't use, some languages etc..)
