hi guys,

Purchasing a usb memory stick, and will mainly be using this on a mac and Windows. Is possible to add protection at all to the stick? I have lost one already and it had some important information.

Thanks

use a password protected file or folder. There are several apps that will put a password on a file, and work on both mac / win.

Zip is a very old one but still good for simple and basic security. There are others with higher security but maybe slightly more complex to use.

Cheers guys, the padlock looks like a good idea! A bit big in my opinion though.

I have a quick look for software for the USB stick, can anyone recommend a good program to use? Ideally, something asking for a password when plugged in would be brilliant

Your problem is in needing cross-compatibility between Windows and the Mac.

I haven't used it, but I hear good things about TrueCrypt. Linkety
It will require the software be installed on the computer to read the files. But they'll be safe.

EDIT:
You could alway get an IronKey. I've wanted one for a while, but they're expensive 'lil buggers.
