8gb vs 16gb for editing

I plan on using my retina mbp for editing with fcpx and aperture / photoshop .. was thinking bout getting a mid range one with 8gb .. just not sure if that is enough ram

Enough RAM? Yes.

Will 16gb be noticeably faster when rendering? Yes.

8 should be fine but I'd opt for 16gb to be safe. Since the ram on the retina MBP is soldered onto the logic board, you'll have no chance to upgrade this down the road. Better to be safe then sorry

I just went with 16GB because I was going to be doing editing. It is not NEEDED but it will help a lot with rendering time and overall performance. It will cut back time on everything you do as far as editing goes.
