9.4.3 Photo upgrade DELETED PHOTOS

Made the big mistake of updating to 9.4.3 and now 80% of my photos are gone...tried iphoto manager app and it did not help. How does apple put this product out there and tells you to download it WITHOUT FIRST MAKING SURE IT DOES NOT HARM? Are they in so much of a hurry, they just don't have time or what??????????
This is sloppy work.
