hi everyone,

looking to replace a 2007 24" iMac for my parents because the LCD/backlight is going bad and it looks terrible.

I'm looking at picking up a used 2012 21.5" iMac, it has the 3.1ghz i7 processor, 8GB ram, 1tb Fusion drive, and upgraded nvidia GT650M (but with only 512mb ram) video card.

The price is $900, it seem like a very good price for a machine. My parents don't edit video or do anything like that, literally just look at their pictures/movies, and browse some websites.

Is the i7 and faster video card basically going to waste? Should I look for something with 16gb ram + fusion instead? What would you do?

I personally would check it out to survey its condition. If I planned to negotiate I would look at sold listings on ebay specific to the US or your respective country. If it looks good I would make them an offer and be prepared to pay right there. Overall though I tend to prefer new or refurb with a fully warranty.
