I was just wondering if it would cause any harm to my macbook if whenever i'm finished using it i'd just close it, and then wake it up when i need to use it again. I just find it more convenient that shutting it down and turning it on everytime i need to use it.

But 1) Can it cause any harm over the long term? 2) Is it safe? 3) Can this result in me experiencing undesirable damage and data loss?

Thank you for elaborating, and for your help.

Regards,
Kristoff

It's totally safe to do that. I rarely shut my MBP down.... maybe once every 2 weeks.

I always shut the lid which puts it to sleep when I am not using it.
