Werid Fan problem

Hi all, I have had my 27" imac for the last 2 months now, and I keep running into a rather interesting little "bug"... About every 7 days, for no reason at all, my harddrive fan will start to rev higher an higher, it will hover around the 1000 RPM but then at about the 7ish day mark the RPM will quick rise to the 4000+ RPM range.. If i put the computer to sleep and instantly wake it back up, the fans instantly go to 1000 rpm, and stay there for another 7 days... Anyone have any ideas on why? or is this kind of normal (which would be kind of odd)??
