Prediction w/Evidence: Refresh of 30" ACD Tomorrow (14-Jun-2010)

All I have is circumstantial evidence, but I think it's compelling:

* The model is dying for a refresh, blah, blah, blah.
* I and others who ordered one since mid/late April keep having the ship date pushed back. My 23-Apr-2010 order went from showing a two week delay, to four, to six, to now almost two months. Two months is a looooong time, even for Apple.
* Today I saw that my order shipped, with delivery scheduled for tomorrow! Wait, tomorrow is a Tuesday!
* And this is the kicker for me... the shipping weight of the 30" ACD is listed as 41 lbs. My en-route UPS shipment clocks in at 38 lbs.

I think I'm going to see a new 27" IPS ACD in my mailbox tomorrow.

Interesting post, pfc. I'm actually considering to buy a 30" ACD because all other brands of 30" displays currently being sold are wide gamut, which is horrible for people using sRGB color space. I hope any revision is still 30" and CCFL backlit.

pfc, if you get a chance, please post an update for us tomorrow.

Apple Store Down

Well, it's 10:34 p.m. PDT right now, and the online Apple Store is down. There is a yellow Post-it not saying "We'll be back soon." followed by text to the right of it which reads "We are busy updating the store for you and will be back shortly."

I say call Apple and bitch your face off about the delays. At least try to get some $$ off.

My friend called and complained about not seeing the taxed total on the checkout screen and they took $150 off the price of his MBP.

The current revision hit store shelves in March 2006, so it's 4+ years old.

I've had two Dell monitors for three years and they've both worked excellently. Just because it's Dell doesn't mean the monitor sucks.

pfc: a brand-new 27" ACD would be pretty sweet. If the price were comparable to the u2711 I might even spring for that instead.

I had 2 Dell monitors within ca. 9 months and they both broke, the last one as you can see above after 5 hours. I think that qualifies for the monitor sucks.

I have a 23' ACD since 2006, still rolling, uniform color, no dead pixels (only mild shadowing, barely notable)
