So with iTunes 9.2 on windows you can now update to iOS 4. I dont have to be on a developers list with my UDID number correct since it is a GM version?

Jailbreak is already out. http://www.iphoneheat.com/2010/06/unlock-iphone-3gs-ios-4-0-with-ultrasn0w/
This will unlock and jailbreak anything up to baseband 5.12.01 which will be out when iPhone 4 is released.

you can't update to ios 4 yet with the new itunes. i just downloaded 9.2 tried to update my iphone and it says i have the current version already
Right, iOS4 isn't officially out yet. You have to download the IPSW file for your phone, then in itunes shift + click the check for update button and select the file you downloaded

yes but that wasn't what this thread is about.
So the general consensus im getting is that 4.0 works like crap on a 3G? I have the ipsw and itunes 9.2 but I dont want to update to something thats even slower than 3.0 and could possibly cripple any apps that are not compatible.
Well I figured mine couldn't get any slower.. the upgrade to 4.0 probably did it some good if there was a bunch of crap wrong with my 3x os.
So far so good! Oh and the retina display in iOS 4 is amazing.........![]()
I'm wondering if I should install the GM on my 3G... I mean, it can't get much worse right lol... Can we fall back to 3.1.3 if 4 is horrendously slow?
thats the thing, I think your stuck once you upgrade, im gonna hang back on this one, after all im getting my iphone 4 delivered on the 24th.......I think......
I think you can always put the phone into USB recovery mode where it says 'connect to itunes' and at that point specify a 3x IPSW file
But.. I thought iOS 4 was supposed to allow backgrounds.... mine is just black. I don't see where to set it. I KNOW this damned thing can handle a background.
