9400m + Aperture 3 + 2560 x 1440 monitor?

I've read a few threads with issues of poor performance of MacMini/MBP/Air running games on 2560 x 1440 monitors, so I suspect I have my answer. I'm looking at getting a 2560 x 1440 Dell monitor and plan to hook it up via DP to my late 2009 13" MBP (which I'm upgrading to 8GB RAM). Does anyone have any experience of this setup running Aperture 3? I'm not too concerned with gaming performance. Would dropping to a 24" 1920 x 1200 make things much better?

Edit: never mind, decided to go for the 24" 1920 x 1200 option.
